Kids & Technology

Gone are the days when the basic necessities were food, shelter and clothing, in this digital age, the basic needs are cola, burger and cell phones.  With cell phones, becoming status symbols, children and teenagers consider having a cell phone a necessity. It is actually difficult to keep students or children away from fancy gadgets when the technology has permeated in the education system.
Many schools and colleges have banned the use of cell phones by students in their premises. The million dollar question is whether the ban is a viable option at all. With kid’s supposedly innocent and carefree world becoming blurred and submerging with adult’s pathos. The modern man lives his life, coping with economic recession, tackling terrorism attacks and fighting with multitude of domestic chores. To quote an example of this process is that the children becoming adult sooner than they are supposed to be.
A mobile phone cannot be seen just as a medium of connectivity, there is much more to it. . It gives them access to their parents; it contains dictionary, calculator, calendar, spread sheets, schedulers and stuff. The most important advantage of giving cell phones to children is that it becomes easier for parents to track where their children are. . Since the society has reached the verge of dysfunctionality with criminals roaming abound, it's a wise idea to arm the kids with one thing with which they can cry for help in the time of need.  If the cell phones are such a dangerous thing, then what about the use of laptops, i-pods or the Internet? Time has proven that every technology has a dark side to it and often is misused to a disastrous extent only to be worn down by the advantageous effects.
